Cancer Action is committed to promote education, prevention and early detection to reduce the impact of cancer in the greater Kansas City area.  Through our community education program, Cancer Action collaborates with numerous agencies and healthcare organizations and service providers to provide educational opportunities throughout the metropolitian area.  Cancer Action participates in numerous health fairs thorughout the city and provides presentations to organizations and groups about cancer.  Some of the collaborative projects that Cancer Action plays a vital role in the community are:

Minority Cancer Awareness Coalition
The Minority Cancer Awareness Coalition (MCAC) provides educational opportunities through information disbursemsent and educational forums for ninorities and medically underserved populations who are not likely to receive much needed cancer information and early detection information.

Kansas City Cancer Coalition
The Kansas City Cancer Coalition (KCCC) is a gneral cancer awareness coalition funded through the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.  The coalition has worked on projects to increase eduational awareness throughout the Greater Kansas City Metropolitian area and is currently providing a local community resources for Kansas Citians seeking local cancer information at www.kccancer.info.

Integrative Cancer Care Conference
The Integrative Cancer Care Conference Task Force is a collarborative effort of social service agencies and healthcare providers that have worked together to offer conferences providing evidence-based information and practical application of complementary and integrative approached to cancer care.  These modalities complement traditional medical treatment for cancer with healing approaches that integrate body, mind and spirit.  THese modalities drwa upon the resources of family, faith and community support.  The next Integrative Cancer Care Conference is scheduled for Friday, March 30, 2007 featuring Rachel Naomi Remem as our keynote speaker.
