Ray Marsh Elementary Gives back to Local Cancer Patients with Yarn Drive
Release date:
Wednesday, April 07, 2010
Shawnee, KS---Ray Marsh Elementary School students recently collected 426 skeins of yarn for Cancer Action volunteers to make afghans for local cancer patients. The school’s student council organized the all-school event.
Kristyn Shultz’s kindergarten class collected 155 skeins of yarn---the most from all the classes. The class won a pizza party for their efforts.
Each new client at Cancer Action receives a handmade afghan as well as other comfort items made by over 500 volunteers throughout Kansas City. With the generous yarn donation, volunteers will be able to make over 50 afghans during the next few months.
